Report a problem
Something does not work as it should? Tell us on GitHub, where the people who build tavrn track every problem in the open.
Before you report
- Search the known issues. If the problem is already there, add what you know to that issue instead of opening a new one.
- Update to the latest version: the problem may already be fixed.
- One problem per report. Two problems in one report are hard to track.
- Leave out anything private: no passwords, recovery keys, recovery codes, tokens or private messages, neither in the text nor in screenshots or logs.
- Reports are public. Everyone can read them, and they stay on GitHub.
- You need a GitHub account to report. Creating one is free.
Report it on GitHub
GitHub asks what the problem is about and then opens the form in the right place. The form says which details help.
Report on GitHub (opens GitHub)Questions, help with a node, or an idea for a new feature? Ask in the Discussions (opens GitHub).
Found a security problem?
Do not open a public issue for a security vulnerability. Report it privately on GitHub instead: only you and the maintainers can see the report, and we work on the fix together with you there.
Report privately in the repository of the affected part:
- Node server, container image, deployment (opens GitHub)
tavrn-node - Web client and desktop apps (opens GitHub)
tavrn-web - Encryption core (opens GitHub)
tavrn-crypto - SDK, encryption layer, bot runtime (opens GitHub)
tavrn-js - The protocol or the encryption design (opens GitHub)
tavrn-protocol
The security policy (opens GitHub) says what to include and what we promise.

Where to find the version and the logs
Name the version and, if you can, add the messages the app or the node wrote. Read them first and remove anything private.
- Web app
- Name your browser and its version, and the address of your node. Error messages are in the browser's console: press F12 (on a Mac Cmd+Option+I) and open Console. The version of the official node is on the status page.
- Desktop app (Windows, Linux)
- Settings → App shows the app's version. The app writes no log file; on Linux, starting it from a terminal shows its messages there.
- Your own node
docker compose logs --since 1h tavrnshows the node's log, andhttps://<node>/api/v1/nodeanswers with its version. The log contains addresses and usernames: remove them before you post it.
